The Lo-Chlor Phosphate Test Kit is specially designed to accurately measure phosphate levels in swimming pool and spa water within a range of 0–20 ppm.
Each kit includes a multilingual instruction booklet featuring illustrations and a colour chart to help users easily identify phosphate levels. No special storage conditions are required, and each kit provides up to 70 tests, making it a convenient and cost-effective solution for swimming pool and hot tub owners, as well as pool maintenance professionals.
General Instructions
- Rinse the test container several times with the water sample, then fill it to the marked ring (5 ml).
- Add 6 drops of PO4-1 and mix by stirring.
- Add 6 drops of PO4-2 and mix by stirring.
- Wait 10 minutes.
- Place the test container in the designated area below. Compare the colour produced in the container with the closest matching colour on the colour chart.
Professional Tips
- Algae presence: If algae are present in the pool or spa water, the test result may be zero. This occurs because the algae have consumed all the available phosphates. Therefore, always ensure that all living algae and algae spores have been eliminated before testing.
- Phosphate levels above 20 ppm: If the test result is positive (the liquid in the vial turns blue) but exceeds 20 ppm, follow these steps:
- Add 5 ml of distilled water to the 5 ml water sample already collected and mix thoroughly.
- Fill the test tube with approximately 8 ml of distilled water.
- Compare the resulting colour with the colour chart.
- Read the result and multiply it by a factor of two (×2) to obtain the correct phosphate concentration.
- High phosphate levels: If the phosphate level exceeds 10 ppm, contact a Lo-Chlor professional for further advice.
- Storage: Always store the test kit in a cool, dry place.
